Avermes is a small town located in the Allier, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. We found remains which testify to the existence of the city since prehistoric times, but in Roman times, the village of Avermes was crossed by several roads, which illustrates the importance of place. Excavations have also helped update treasures. In 1986, numerous bronze and silver coins dating from 238-270 were discovered on the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman villa.
Food specialties of Avermes are those of the Bourbon Sologne in which lies the village. This is eg cabbage soup, Bourbonnais pie with potatoes or the Piquenchagne, tasty pie with pears, apple or quince.
