Aumessas is a village of several hamlets and neighborhoods with a typical habitat granite and schist. The town is crossed by two rivers : the Albagne and Bavezon. The two join to form a river that flows into the Arre at the place called " Three Bridges ".
Several times have shaped the village : the Wars of Religion, the epic of sericulture and the construction of the railway track. Part of the town is located in the heart area of the Cevennes National Park, and another peripheral area. Directive Natura 2000 protects an area. Aumessas also holds the flowered Village label.
