Common Hauts-de-France, Auchel takes place in the heart of the Pas-de-Calais, in the agglomeration community of Artois. Located about fifty kilometers from Arras, this former mining town is located not far from Marles-les-Mines, Calonne-Ricouart and Lozinghem.
Old property of the family of Olhain until the 15th century, then of the family of Bethune until the eighteenth century, Auchel experienced a significant economic boom with the discovery of a coalfield in the mid-nineteenth century operated until the 1960s. Later, the town reconverted in textiles, including, as well as in automotive subcontracting. Less dynamic today, the city of northern France has no less a beautiful architectural and historical heritage that attracts many visitors each year. Its proximity to some of the most beautiful sites of the Hauts-de-France is also an asset to this town that does not lack.
