Made up of two villages two kilometers apart, the commune of Aste-Béon is located in the heart of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, around thirty kilometers from Pau. Known for centuries to be an important haunt of Egyptian griffon and Egyptian vultures, it attracts visitors eager to discover an authentic land.
Formerly a dependency of Ossau, the village of Aste-Béon experienced significant growth in the second half of the 18th century with the creation of a forge and ore mining. They will close permanently a few decades later.
Today Aste-Béon remains famous for its tourist, but also agricultural, activities. The town is part of the Ossau-Iraty appellation zone.
