A neo-classical family residence, the castle of Malicorne-sur-Sarthe reveals to its visitors typical 18th century Mansard roofs. Originally built in the 12th century, on a swamp, the building's role was to guard the border of Maine.
A popular meeting place during the Renaissance, the castle of Malicorne-sur-Sarthe notably hosted stays of Madame de Sévigné, before falling into ruins. Entirely rebuilt in the 18th century, it now benefits from an inscription as a Historic Monument. The site hosts the Musica Malicorne festival every year in July.
