The name of the village of Arcangues, located a few kilometers from Biarritz, is known worldwide. Every year, visitors will stop and linger. Yet it is during this century that this little town has become what it is today. It is indeed, under the leadership of the Arcangues family, and the poet and novelist of talent that was the Marquis Pierre Arcangues it pleasant and picturesque village has turned into one of the top tourist spots Basque coast. Conceived and directed by the Marquis, throughout his life, this elegant and unusual set is fully restored with ancient materials. In the "theater of nature", behind the school, the painter Ramiro Arrue who filed his touch and made the frescoes that adorn it. Luis Mariano (1914-1970) came to live in Arcangues in 1961 and was one of the most illustrious citizens of the town. Visiting the cemetery, the amateur retain the beautiful and extensive collection of steles discoidal represented therein. These tombstones show many traditional symbols (crosses, solar patterns, vegetation ...) in the Basque Country and constitute in themselves a valuable record of its history. At the foot of the cemetery like no other, lies a beautiful panorama and it is nice weather you will have the opportunity to detail the different parts of the Basque Pyrenees.

It was around the church dating from the early 13th and with one of the most sumptuous galleries carved the Basque Country that fit together elements of what might be called " a great Basque village ". The stone facade faces the terrace of a very typical hostel, surrounded by towering shale tables. Every wall, every corner were composed by the greatest care of the Marquis Pierre Arcangues. Unearthed across the country, these stones and sculptures several centuries old were naturally integrated and seem to be there for their origin. Ironwork, small fountains, benches égaillent this place, moreover beautifully flowered in the spring. His " theater of nature " is still room unique holiday in its kind.
The cemetery is also definitely worth visiting. Know that you can get there visit the grave of Luis Mariano ( 1914/1970 ). Castle Arcangues is open to visitors from mid-October to mid-December from Tuesday to Sunday.

In July and August : every Wednesday morning from 9am to 13pm : traditional craft market in the square of the pediment.
A living traditions :
The Theatre provides a framework for village events such as garage sale 1st of May or concerts celebrations of Arcangues early June. During these five days of jubilation alternating ball or rugby games, musical entertainment and tasting of regional products at picnics or in the restaurants.
In summer, guided tours are available.
The last Tuesday of July and the first Tuesday in August, the rural sports demonstrations on the square of the pediment are identifying aboriginal games from rural activities and weekly sessions allow discovery to learn about the Basque pelota.
Finally in October, are held Mutxikoak a day with different Basque dances.
