Lake of the Boucau

Natural site in Anglet

Lake Boucau is located north of the coastal town of Anglet, itself north of Biarritz which it borders, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

The lake is included in the Izadia Ecological Park, which covers 14 hectares of wet coastal areas, at the mouth of the Adour River and in close proximity to the beaches.

Classified as a Natura 2000 area for its rich biodiversity, the park offers discovery trails for adults and children to apprehend the fragile ecosystem of places.

Lake Boucau is composed of pools separated by a dike equipped with a valve: the lake "north" is salty and the lake "south" brackish (its salt content is lower than that of seawater).

The park includes a bird beach, woodlands and moors.

A House of the Environment offers exhibitions, fun and educational activities.

Fishing and swimming are obviously forbidden.

Open during school holidays and from the beginning of April to the end of Toussaint holidays from Tuesday to Sunday from 10h to 12h30 and from 14h to 18h (20h in July and August). Guided tour: 3 and 5 euros. Information on +33 5 59 57 17 48.
