Until then owned by the Marquis d'Aix who left it at the disposal of the curists, the thermal park of Aix-les-Bains, in Savoy, was bought by the State which retroceded it to the city in 1866. One of the conditions of the operation was that the site remains un-urbanized and open to the public.
In the immediate vicinity of the thermal baths, it was the subject of developments at the end of the nineteenth century (watering system, construction of a greenhouse, a bandstand, realization of tennis courts).
In 1933, the architect and landscape architect Charles Bouhana, author including the embellishments made at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris, was responsible for the expansion. The trees were preserved, but a pergola and a central basin were created. Then, over the years, this exceptional floral space was equipped with new kiosks, playgrounds, a theater of greenery...
The last major project dates from 2005, when the central basin was removed in favor of a Moroccan fountain to commemorate the independence agreements of Morocco signed at Aix-les-Bains in 1956.
The thermal park, now classified, remains one of the jewels of the famous city of waters and a site conducive to the walk and the peace.
