The Marlioz racecourse is located at Aix-les-Bains, in Savoie. It was created in 1883 and remains to this day the only racecourse in the French Alps.
Sultan Aga Khan III, who settled in Geneva in the 1920s, where he was once president of the General Assembly of the League of Nations, a great horse racing enthusiast, contributed during the inter-war period to the fame of the racecourse.
Modernized, it now has large stands, a panoramic bar and restaurant, and sports facilities (football fields, basketball and volleyball, facilities dedicated to athletics).
The racecourse itself includes several tracks dedicated to different specialties (trotting, flat, obstacle), 1.5 km of tracks including a straight line of 400 m.
On a postcard-like landscape (alpine peaks, forests), the Marlioz racecourse hosts ten meetings a year, from mid-June to mid-August: five gallop meetings, five trotting meetings, part of which give rise to "hors racecourse" bets, that is to say that amateurs can bet on races from PMU points or via the Internet.
Entry (the days of races): 4 euros. Information on +33 4 79 61 40 04.
