Built in the first half of the 18th century, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in Faubourg d'Aix-en-Provence has an unusual plan in the shape of a Greek cross, with an architecture close to that of the churches of the Jesuits and the Preachers.
Although the Saint-Jean-Baptiste du Faubourg church was originally supposed to have five domes, only the central nave and the south aisle were built. A north aisle was added in the 19th century.
The building is known for having hosted the marriage of Paul Cézanne and Hortense Fiquet.
