Aix-Les Milles aerodrome is located on the territory of Les Milles, a former hamlet now urbanized to the south of Aix-en-Provence on which it depends.
The aerodrome was built in 1939 and replaced, after the Second World War, the field of the Child.
Now having a 1615 m asphalt runway, close to business areas, it is open to non-scheduled commercial traffic (passenger or freight flights) and to leisure aviation.
The runway of the aerodrome is able to accommodate planes of more than 30 tons. In the immediate vicinity of the site, aeronautical maintenance and construction companies are established.
Associations are also based on the aerodrome. This is particularly the case with the local branch of the Aero-club of Aix-Marseille which offers first flights (contact on +33 4 42 24 21 70), of the Aéro-club du Soleil which has a flying school (information on +33 4 42 24 34 19) or the Parachute-Club (information on +33 6 14 08 35 98).
