- A square tower protected by a wall, was the initial construction of the dungeon. In feudal times, the great lords of families share the territory, and the Family of Montmayeur, just like the Count of Savoy was a vassal of the Holy Roman Empire. At the bottom of the city, it controlled the river traffic of the Isere. With the evolution of weaponry, medieval tower ensured its more defensive role. A main building, a tower housing a spiral staircase and some interiors made this dungeon, during the Renaissance, a pleasant residence. Abandoned for centuries and finally bought by the town, it houses exhibitions.
