Perched on top of a rocky peak, Aiguèze is a picturesque medieval village overlooking the entrance to the Ardèche gorges. Listed among the most beautiful villages of France, Aiguèze charms its visitors in a very special way, with its ruined fortress, its paved alleyways winding between beautiful houses, the church with its Renaissance door, and its little square sitting in the shade of the plane trees. The wall-walk at the foot of the fortress rock offers a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.

Additional information
Aiguèze

In Provence, a pretty medieval village, Aiguèze, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, overlooking the gorges of Ardeche, at the crossroads of the Gard department (Nimes, Uzes), Vaucluse (Avignon) and Drome Provence, less than 30 minutes from the exceptional site of the Cave of the Pont d'Arc.

Perched on a cliff above the Ardeche, the fortress of Aiguèze (XI-XII cent.) Discusses the rivalry between the Count of Toulouse and the bishops counts Viviers supported by the King of France. Destroyed by the king in 1384, Aiguèze reborn in the fifteenth (fortified hospital) and the Renaissance until one of his "children", Archbishop of Rouen, is the patron (1910-1915). With several classified sites with its view over Saint-Martin, the gorges of Ardeche and Ventoux, is since 2005 one of the "most beautiful villages in France".

Around noon side beyond the vineyards (side du Rhône Gard) and olive trees, extends the scrub until palaeo Viel Castel site, along GR4; mistral side is the cliff to peak on the Ardeche to the suspension bridge (1905) Saint-Martin.
