Camping Le Puits is a family run campsite in the village of St Martin des Besaces offering camping / caravanning and Bed & Breakfast. Perfectly situated for exploring the undulating picturesque countryside, tasting renowned cheeses, sampling sparkling cider and of course, the famous Calvados. Once a working farmstead, the grounds (9 acres) have been re-designed with 30 large individually marked pitches, hedges, apple trees and borders overlooking lush green fields. The farmhouse, which has been tastefully renovated, retains its country charm with 4 elegantly decorated en-suite rooms providing comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation with pleasant views. To the North of St Martin des Besaces are the D-day Landing Beaches, where they will be celebrating the 65th Anniversary this year, and Bayeux with its famous tapestry. To the South is the historic and pretty village of Domfront, within Normandy's large regional park. To the East in Suisse Normand (little Switzerland) is Clécy with a miniature railway and the River Orne for canoeing and fishing. To the West lies the breathtaking Le Mont St Michel and the beaches along the Cotentin shoreline. Within the village, there is a Museum dedicated to the liberation of the Bocage Region and for the more adventurous - nearby Bungy Jumping. We accept domestic pets on the camp site (not in the B&B), so long as they are kept on a lead at all times. There is a vet in the village capable of dealing with the necessary injections for return to the UK. The Management offer all visitors a warm, friendly welcome and endeavour to make your visit to Normandy as enjoyable and memorable as possible.

Wonderful stayWe had only intended to stay here for one night before travelling South but loved it so much that we stayed 3 and explored Normandy as it is an excellent base. Had to force ourselves to leave but could have stayed on for longer. Peter and Fran were extremely helpful and we loved the little restuarant on site. Will definetly be back.

Excellent, will use againUsed campsite for 2 nights on way back to UK. Good sized pitches, good facilities for washing, showering etc. Seperate mini freezer to re-freeze ice block (good idea). Bar and food were fine as well.

Excellent, peaceful site with great facilitiesGreat size pitches and not crowded. Has a very homely feel. The owners make great efforts to ensure the comfort of campers. There's a nice friendly bar and good washing/shower facilities, there is also a table tennis table in a barn done out as a salle de fetes, which was nice. Several Brits, possibly because of UK website/online booking facility. We only stayed one night en route, but would heartily recommend.
