Located in southern part of the Loire Valley, the Château of Saint Loup is a major landmark in the history of France. Here the Black Prince incarcerated the french King, John the Good, after the battle of Poitiers in 1356. Rebuilt at the beginning of the 17 th century by the Gouffier family the Marquis the Carabas who inspired Perrault to write the tale 'Puss in Boots' the chateau is an outstanding example of french classical architecture and still a private home.
