Château de Rodié - Courbiac

This medieval fortress built for defense has been restored to become a comfortable home with spaious bedrooms furnished with antiques. The large swimming pool ensures no crowding. The castle is surrounded by 54h of nature reserve and organic farm specialising in the old breeds of Aquitaine. The farm supplies much of the produce for the table d'hôte. Meals are served under the arches of the central courtyard or in the Grande Salle with its Renaissance bay windows and monumental fireplace.

Apartment and Hospitality
We stayed in one of the apartments which was clean and spacious. The family are absolutely lovely and nothing is too much trouble for them to make you feel comfortable. If you want a restful break with beautiful surroundings - then this is the place for you.

A lovely experience
We landed at Chateau de Rodie after having found our initial accommodation elsewhere unsatisfactory. Even though we did not make a reservation, Pippa went out of her way to accommodate us and we stayed for a week in a gite attached to the chateau. We were given all sorts of homemade goodies for our own kitchen and found the gite to be very well equipped indeed! The beds were the best we have ever encountered during years of travel! It is a most restful place, managed by the most charming family, and we will certainly be back. They really made us feel at home!

Warm hospiitalityand lovely food in a rustic period setting
We stayed in Chateau de Rodie for five nights in the month of June. The chateau is an old castle that has been very sympathetically restored by the owners Pippa and Paul Hequet. The chateauis also a working farm is worked by Pippa and Paul along with their two daughters. The setting is deep in the countryside in a very scenic part of France. We stayed in one of their rooms and took breakfast and dinner. Which was a traditional continental type breakfast with a selection of bread and croissants along with a selection of jams (all home made) fruit juices and tea or coffee. Dinner was very varied with lamb poultry and other local meats vegetables etc., with varying startters and desserts all exellently prepared by Pippa and Paul. Their farm is a wildlife friendly farm and on walking around we saw so much lovelly wildlife, butterflies in a natural meadow and birds of many types. The night chorus of frogs down by the ponds is something that has to be experienced to be beleived. Our room was very comfortable and spacoius wiyh an ensuite bathroom and toilet. The room did not have television but then that is all part of staying at Chateau Rodie so that it is possible to disconnect with all the fuss and blurr of modern life. If you do need to make contact then there is Wi Fi and bars in the surrounding villages have got television.
