Lasalsesex - Tournon-d'Agenais

Since several decades we, the Simonet family, are farmers. We grow the truffles of the Lot-et-Garonne and are beekeepers. Our love for the earth and nature brought this very naturally to us. The entire year, during all seasons, we work to cultivate the truffles. In the spring, summer, autumn and winter we harvest them. The spring truffles called Borchii are harvest from February to April. She is the cousin of the Magnatum with an intense beige color, smell and flavor. This truffle is very popular by chefs. The summer truffle called tuber Aestivum is harvest in July and August, its taste stays particularly long and is of a lower intensity. This truffle is accessible for all amateurs and can be used from the aperitif to the dessert. The autumn truffles we harvest from October to December, these are exceptional in their taste and appearance. The tuber Uncinatum, Magnatum, Macrosporum and Mésentéricum will delight gourmets in the entire world. The taste of the last two truffles, the winter truffles, the Mélanosporum, also called perigord black truffle, and the tuber Brumale also called ‘truffle of charcutiers', will amaze your taste buds with an incomparable intensity and unforgettable flavor.

At our farm you can also discover honeys with different tastes. Our bees forage on the flowers of the rapeseed, acacia, chestnut, sunflower, honeydew and multiflowers of our beautiful region. We pack the honey in packages of 500 gram combined with local products like hazelnuts, walnuts and our saffron production. Our shop is open all year. Here you can find all our exceptional products.

A lovely morning
We were a group of six adults and a teenager and we spent a great couple of hours learning about the bees and their hives, and the different types of truffles and the trees grown to assist in their cultivation. I was the only French speaker and found one or two of the more technical explanations a little challenging but I was able to ensure that we all understood at least 80% (I hope!) and we all found it interesting and a lovely way to spend out morning. Fantastic to taste lots of different honeys and various truffle products and of course we couldn't resist buying quite a few to bring home! Yum!!!

A very special experience!
We visited the truffle and honey farm with friends. It was a special date because one of our number was 65 on that particular day and it was part of her birthday present surprise. The whole experience was absolutely delightful. We had also elected to have the 35 € lunch. Joel and his son Daniel couldn't have tried harder to give us a positive experience. We learned a lot about truffle growing and beekeeping and the meal was delicious - proudly and meticulously served by them both. The most striking thing about our visit was the sheer passion they both felt about truffle growing and bee keeping. One cautionary note to Brits. It really is impirtant to have some working knowledge of French - not fluent, but enough to get by because Both Joel and Daniel have almost no English. Having said that, we managed really quite well. Indeed part of the charm was helping eachother to understand what was being said. I have no doubt in thoroughly recommending this tourist activity.

Wonderful introduction to truffles and honey
We had a 2 hour introduction to the producing and tasting of honey and truffles. Both Joel and Daniel were utterly delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them despite occasional language barriers.
